Christopher Ward Pediatric Neuroscience Conference 2021
This conference is specifically for providers and other interested staff that care for children with conditions affecting the brain, spine and peripheral nervous system. It will provide clinical updates and address current topics relevant to the nursing care of this growing patient population.
This conference will be hosted virtually. A zoom link will be provided prior to the conference.

Target Audience
The target audience for this activity includes Nurse Practitioners and other APRN's, Physician Assistants, Physicians, Registered Nurses, EEG Technicians and other clinical staff involved with neuroscience patient care.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the current ethical dilemmas created by emerging high-cost, life-saving treatments for children.
- Define the role and utility of neuropsychological evaluation for children with neurological conditions.
- Review the current evidence and strategies for transitioning care to adult neuroscience providers.
- Discuss the link between genetics and brain tumors, and how this connection is driving patient-specific treatment plans.
- Describe the pathophysiology and current management strategies for Chiari malformations.
- Discuss the incidence and implications of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.
- Review the pathophysiology and epidemiology of Acute Flaccid Myelitis.
Learner Outcome
- Learners will self-report at least one practice change they plan to make as a result of this activity.
- Learners will self-report increased knowledge regarding care of children with neurological conditions.
