Household Safety Interventions Among Families Reviewing County Services
This training will provide medical CARE Network designated providers with evidence-based guidelines for care and improve both access and quality of care for patients.
Target Audience
CARE Network Medical Designated Providers to include FNEs and other registered nurses trained in the care of child maltreatment.
Learning Objectives
- Describe evidence-based, best practice standards for CARE Network patient assessments.
- Integrate behavioral health and family psychosocial factors into CARE Network patient assessments.
- Identify strategies for improved collaboration between multidisciplinary professionals working to address child maltreatment.
Learner Outcome
- Participants will self-report increased knowledge of how to perform evidence-based high quality medical exams and behavioral health assessments using standard guidelines.
- Participants will self-report increased knowledge related to collaborating with non-medical professionals working on multidisciplinary teams to address child maltreatment.
The CARE Network Medical ECHO Series is hosted virtually.
Joseph Simonetti, MD, MPH is a clinical investigator at the Rocky Mountain Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) for Suicide Prevention and Director of Education and Mentorship of the Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative (FIPI) at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine. His research focuses on the prevention of firearm-related harms through mixed-methods approaches, informatics and natural language processing work, and the development of patient-centered and culturally informed clinical interventions.
Megan McCarthy, MPH(c) is the Research and Evaluation Coordinator for the Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative (FIPI) at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine. She received her bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of Kentucky and is currently in her last semester of her Master of Public Health concentrating in Epidemiology at the University of Colorado. Her work focuses of policy evaluation, suicide prevention, and working with firearm owners to prevent injuries.
