Community Pediatric Sexual Assault Learning Series: Tips and Tricks - Exam Techniques, Documentation, and Clinical Guidelines
This ongoing education combines clinical presentations, as well as reviews of available evidence, for current practice strategies related to pediatric forensic nursing
Target Audience
The monthly education is intended for forensic nurse examiners and medical providers who see pediatric and adolescent patients. All attendees should have completed FNE/SANE training prior to enrolling.
Learner Outcome
Upon completion, the FNE/SANE will report increased confidence incorporating new information related to medical evaluation and assessment for children or adolescent with suspected sexual abuse, assault, or physical abuse.
Learning Objectives
- Describe three exam techniques used for genital evaluation in forensic exams.
- Identify why clinical guidelines are helpful for sexual assault testing and prophylaxis.
- List the pertinent landmarks needed for documentation of a genital examination.
