OUTREACH EVENT

Overview and Target Audience

This activity is for interdisciplinary healthcare team members caring for pediatric patients in an emergency and pre-hospital setting. We will provide clinical updates and address current topics relevant to the care for sick and injured pediatric patients.

This education day will be held at Grand River Health Hospital in Rifle Colorado with an in person attendance only option. No virtual links are provided for this education event. 

Learner Outcome

Learners will be able to report new knowledge and intent to change practice in order to provide current, evidence-based care to pediatric patients in an emergent setting.

Objectives

  • Describe process to assess level of illness in pediatric patients.
  • Discuss pediatric-specific patient assessment and various pediatric responses to illness and trauma.
  • Review presentation and treatment of pediatric sepsis.
  • Describe initial management of a pediatric hand burn.
  • Demonstrate key pediatric clinical care skills including suctioning, airway management, IV access and rapid fluid administration, NG tube insertion, and pediatric resuscitation.
