Pediatric Emergency and Trauma Outreach Symposium | Albuquerque, NM
LIVE OUTREACH IN-PERSON ACTIVITY

This symposium is for interdisciplinary healthcare team members caring for pediatric patients in an emergency and pre-hospital setting. Current clinical issues and implications for children's health and clinician care delivery are presented and discussed.
This symposium will be held at the Presbyterian Rev. Hugh Cooper Administrative Center in Albuquerque, NM with an in person only attendance option. No virtual links are provided for this event.
Learner Outcome
After attending this education, learners will report new knowledge and intent to change practice to provide current, evidence-based care to pediatric patients in an emergent setting.
Objectives
- Discuss assessment tools, initial interventions, and escalation for pediatric patients.
- Discuss initial management of pediatric patients presenting with respiratory distress and failure.
- Identify common toxicological agents and exposures in pediatric patients and describe initial stabilization strategies.
- Identify "normal" vs. concerning injuries in infants and young children.
- Discuss presentation, evaluation, and management of pediatric sepsis.
- Describe what makes pediatric patients susceptible to traumatic injuries in a motor vehicle collision.
- Outline steps in medical evaluation, documentation and management of a young child with injuries concerning for child physical abuse.
- Discuss strategies to improve preparedness, mitigate transmission risk, and protect our workforce during pediatric infectious disease outbreaks.
- Discuss care and management of pediatric patient presenting with neurologic changes.
- Describe initial approach to evaluation and management of blunt abdominal trauma in children.
- Recognize signs and symptoms of life-threatening complications in pediatric cancer patients.
- Recognize pediatric cardiogenic shock and identify initial management strategies.
- Discuss approach, workup, treatment of interesting pediatric emergency medicine cases.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
A registration refund, minus a $10.00 cancellation fee, will be issued if the cancellation request is received at least 14 calendar days prior to the activity date. No refunds will be granted after this deadline or for non-attendance. However, a substitute may attend in your place if you notify the conference coordinator at least three days before the activity.
Children’s Hospital Colorado reserves the right to modify the agenda or cancel the activity due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum registration is not met by August 6, 2025. In such cases, a full refund will be issued to registered participants.
