School Health Nurse: Tracheostomies and Ventilators

This educational program is designed for nurses who care for children with tracheostomies and/or ventilator dependence in the school setting. It includes both didactic instruction and hands-on skills training focused on the care of pediatric patients with tracheostomy tubes and those requiring chronic mechanical ventilation.

Target Audience
Scholl Health Nurses who care for children with tracheostomies and/or ventilator dependence in the school setting.
Learner Outcome
Upon completion of the program, participants will report increased knowledge in routine tracheostomy care, emergency response to tracheostomy-related complications, and ventilator management, and an intent to apply this learning to their practice when caring for a student with a tracheostomy and/or ventilator in the school environment.
