Overview and Target Audience

Asthma is one of the most prevalent chronic conditions among children, with environmental factors playing a significant role in both its onset and ongoing management. This session is designed for registered nurses and other healthcare professionals who care for pediatric asthma patients. It delves into the intricate connection between environmental exposures and childhood asthma, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive, equity-centered approach to care.

Recognizing that environmental risks are not distributed equally, the session will spotlight the disparities that disproportionately impact marginalized communities—often resulting in higher rates and severity of asthma. Participants will explore evidence-based strategies for environmental control, including practical interventions in home and school environments that can meaningfully reduce exposure and improve health outcomes.
