Conference Overview
We are excited to return to Vail, Colorado for the 39th Annual Conference on Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Because of the pandemic, we will be holding a hybrid conference. You can choose to come in-person (Live Attendance) or to attend virtually (Virtual Attendance).
Vail is a small community nestled in the mountains and a short, beautiful drive from Denver, Colorado. The in-person conference will take place at The Lodge at Vail (lodgeatvail.rockresorts.com), which is located in the heart of Vail Village.
Target Audience
This conference presents topics of interest to pediatric, family practice and infectious diseases clinicians, as well as other health professionals. Speakers cover the most recent information on diagnosis, management, and prevention of infections in pediatrics. Discussion of controversial issues and questions follow each presentation. This conference is designed to promote information interchange; therefore, registration is limited.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss recent evidence and guidelines for the evaluation and management of fevers in neonates and young infants.
- Discuss approach to diagnosis and management of fever of unknown origin (FUO) in children.
- Describe best use and interpretation of common diagnostic tests used in pediatrics.
- Describe the newest information on influenza and COVID-19 prevention, diagnosis, and management.
- Discuss pros and cons of screening for congenital CMV.
- Discuss newest evidence, best practices and guidelines in the diagnosis and management of HIV, newborns without prenatal care, Kawasaki Disease, eosinophilia, and HENT infections in children and young adults.
- Review data on new RSV and Pneumococcal vaccines and be able to explain recent ACIP recommendations.
- Discuss guidelines and best practices in diagnosing and managing children and young adults with post-viral syndromes.
- Describe the approach to pre-travel consultation and evaluation and management of fevers in the returning traveler.

AAFP: The AAFP has reviewed 39th Annual Conference on Pediatric Infectious Diseases and deemed it acceptable for up to 21.00 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 07/31/2022 to 08/05/2022. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
AAP: This continuing medical education activity has been reviewed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is acceptable for a maximum of 21.00 AAP credits. These credits can be applied toward the AAP CME/CPD Award available to Fellows and Candidate Members of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
ABP MOC Part 2: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, and individual assessment of and feedback to the learner, enables the learner to earn up to 15 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics' (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

Register for the conference. Participate as an active learner. Complete the evaluation to obtain Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit.
Cancellation Policy
A registration refund, minus a $25 processing fee, will be granted if cancellation is requested by July 16, 2021. No refunds will be granted after this date or for non-attendance. Children's Hospital Colorado reserves the right to modify the agenda or cancel this conference in the event of an unforeseen circumstance, or if minimum acceptable registration is not attained by June 16, 2021.
COVID-19 Guidelines
We are working with the venue to be compliant with public health guidance on conferences, which we expect to change over time with the changing epidemiology. We will communicate specifics to attendees before the conference when we know more details. In the event of travel alerts or warnings recommending against non-essential travel during the time period of this conference, we will cancel the in-person (Live Attendance) portion of the conference and it will become 100% virtual (Virtual Attendance). If this occurs, we will refund the difference between the live and virtual option. Please do not hesitate to reach out with concerns in the meantime.
