Target Audience

This cutting-edge information will enhance knowledge, skills and performance of providers involved in physical, social and behavioral health aspects of care in adolescents and young adults.

The increased knowledge and skills will help attendees better advocate for youth in all domains of health and well-being. 

Learning Objectives

  • Review the influence media has on the mental health of adolescents and discuss strategies to mitigate the negative impacts.
  • Consider the impact of THC on the developing brain and devise talking points to educate youth.
  • Summarize the consequences of fentanyl and other synthetic opioid use and strategize means to decrease its use among adolescents
  • Identify the signs of disordered eating and develop approaches to prevent it from becoming an eating disorder
  • Explain the processes in which various drugs cause dental diseases
  • Recognize structural vulnerabilities (e.g. minoritized identities or lived experiences of racism or migration) that influence the health and well-being of youth and discuss ways to strengthen the potential for resiliency to thrive
