The Mosaic of Mental Health: A Workshop for Pediatric Rheumatologists - Session 1
Mental health problems, particularly anxiety and depression, are more common in children and adolescents with pediatric rheumatologic diseases than healthy peers. Identifying these problems early on is important because they are known to negatively impact disease outcomes. You will learn about these mental health issues and practices in pediatric rheumatology, develop knowledge and understanding through lecture and interactive activities. We HIGHLY recommend you attend both sessions of this series as the content will build from session one to session two.

Pediatric Rheumatologists, Fellows, Early Investigators, Nurses, Social Workers, other Support providers in Rheumatology clinics
Learning Objectives
- Recognize the importance of mental health (MH) in pediatric rheumatology and its impact on patients and families
- Develop MH bedside skills on how to start informal MH discussion before screening
- Establish clinical knowledge and skills in utilizing screening tools (PHQ-9 and GAD-7) for depression & anxiety
- Establish clinical knowledge and skills to perform suicide risk assessment and discuss safety planning in cases of suicidal
