Emergency and Trauma Outreach Symposium, Scottsbluff, NE
This symposium is for interdisciplinary healthcare team members caring for pediatric patients in an emergency and pre-hospital setting. Current clinical issues and implications for children's health and clinician care delivery are presented and discussed.
Target Audience
This conference is for interdisciplinary healthcare team members including nursing, providers and pre-hospital providers.
Learner Outcomes
As a result of this session, learners will be able to report new knowledge and intent to change practice in order to provide current, evidence-based care to pediatric patients.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss process to assess level of illness in pediatric patients.
- Review common respiratory issues in pediatrics and discuss treatments for increase work of breathing.
- Discuss detailed trauma case studies including pre-hospital, transport, and in hospital clinical care for a pediatric patient with a TBI.
- Describe an evidence-based approach to safe and reliable pain/sedation management in pediatric emergencies.
- Demonstrate critical care components in pediatric resuscitation via simulations.
- Demonstrate key pediatric clinical care skills including suctioning, airway management, IV access and rapid fluid administration.
