The Frankenburg-Camp Endowed Fund honors the pioneering leadership of Dr. William K. Frankenburg, who made developmental screening an integral part of pediatric practice throughout the world. The Fund supports research, training and advocacy for early identification and prevention of developmental disorders in otherwise normal children at risk of becoming environmental casualties.

Michelle Macias, MD, FAAP
Dr. Michelle M. Macias, MD, FAAP, is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she directs both the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship and the South Carolina Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (SC LEND) Program. Board-certified in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, Dr. Macias focuses her clinical practice on diagnosing and treating children with a wide range of developmental and behavioral disorders.
Her research and advocacy center on the early detection of developmental delays and behavioral conditions, contributing to improvements in screening practices and enabling more timely interventions. A past president of the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, she has also chaired the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Additionally, Dr. Macias serves as medical editor for the American Board of Pediatrics Sub-board of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics and is a member of the Pediatrics Review Committee for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Dr. Macias has been instrumental in several major national initiatives, including the recent revision of the CDC’s Developmental Milestones, the AAP’s 2020 Clinical Reports on Developmental Screening and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Evaluation and Treatment, and the AAP’s Behavioral-Emotional Screening Clinical Report. She also co-edits the AAP Manual on Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, a key resource for pediatric professionals.
Throughout her career, Dr. Macias has been committed to advancing the understanding, screening, and treatment of developmental and behavioral disorders in children through her research, clinical care, and education.
Children’s Hospital Colorado is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
