31st Annual Abby Stoddard Lectureship in Pediatric Neurology
The Abby Stoddard Lectureship and Visiting Professorship at Children's Hospital Colorado provides faculty physicians, residents, fellows, nurses and other healthcare providers from Children's Hospital and throughout the Rocky Mountain Region healthcare community an opportunity to observe and discuss the latest clinical cases in pediatric neurology, neuroradiology, childhood stroke, hematology, pediatric neuro-intensive care, and rehabilitation.
Target Audience
This education program is intended for physicians, fellows, residents, students, advanced practice providers and nurses who have an interest in pediatric neurology.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate an improved ability to diagnose and treat childhood stroke by integrating recent advancements in genetic testing and phenotypic descriptions, leading to increased diagnostic accuracy, reduced unnecessary evaluations, and appropriate targeted therapies.
- Apply best practices for the work-up and treatment of neonatal stroke, using advancements in genetic testing and phenotypic descriptions to enhance diagnostic accuracy, minimize unnecessary evaluations, and implement effective therapies.
- Discuss recent advances in brain-computer interfaces, including current technologies and future prospects, to increase the application and development of BCIs for children with severe neurological impairments.
- Recognize and address the cultural and spiritual needs of children with neurological disorders and their families, particularly those from historically underserved populations, to promote comprehensive biopsychosocial health.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the rehabilitation options and optimal intervention timing for children and neonates with brain injuries, to maximize their recovery potential (plasticity) and minimize risks associated with brain vulnerability.
