Overview and Target Audience

This conference focuses on assessment and management of common pediatric conditions in hospital, ambulatory and community settings. Current clinical issues and implications for children's health and practitioner care delivery are presented and discussed.    

Interprofessional participation is encouraged for RNs, advanced practice providers, child life specialists, medical assistants, OTs, PTs, RTs, social workers, students, EMS providers and others interested in improving the care of infants, children, and youth.

Learner Outcome

After attending this educational offering, participants will report increased knowledge of current and emerging trends in pediatric healthcare.

Objectives

  • Articulate the different ways of being from Frenzy to Flow.
  • Identify evidence‑based care considerations for patients with epidermolysis bullosa, including wound management, pain control, infection prevention, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Discuss the role of GLP-1s in pediatric obesity, how providers prescribe them safely and important patient education tips and strategies for long-term success.
  • Identify signs and symptoms of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and apply best practice recommendations.
  • Discuss high potency TCH products used by today’s youth (vapes, dabs, smokes, edibles) and how THC interferes with the adolescent brain development, potentially leading to mental illness and psychosis.
  • Discuss the epidemiology of Illicitly Manufactured Fentanyl (IMF), how it is manufactured, CHCO data on IMF exposures and harm reduction and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Explore clinical outcomes from patients in the Non-Accidental Brain Injury Care Clinic.
  • Discuss differential diagnoses of patients presenting with varying chief complaints to a pediatric emergency department.

A registration refund, minus a $10.00 cancelation fee, will be granted if cancellation is requested by 14 calendar days from the activity date. No refunds will be granted after this date or for non-attendance. You may send a substitute by notifying the conference coordinator at least three days prior to activity.
