Acute Care Education (ACE) Day - May 16, 2023
Presentation of dental pain and chest pain is a frequent chief complaint to the emergency and urgent care department. Timely assessment, including thorough history, physical exam and evaluation are critical to identifying pathology, and timely involvement of specialists when appropriate. Providers need to increase competence and clinical evaluation, especially of physical exam skills, ECG interpretation, and communication of findings to help to improve appropriate patient interventions, involve subspecialty consultation, and appropriate disposition.
Target Audience
This education program is primarily oriented towards Children's Hospital Colorado Emergency Department physicians and advanced practice providers.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:
- Recognize ECG abnormalities associated with pathologic etiologies of chest pain.
- Improve competence of ECG interpretation.
- Examine ECG findings requiring emergent intervention.
- Improve recognition of criteria for emergent dental re-implantation after dental trauma.
- Determine indications for traumatic dental consultation.
- Develop and improve competence in describing dental lesions to dental consultants.
