CARE Network Annual Provider Training

May 8, 2023
The deadline to register for this event is April 7, 2023.

The goals of this training are to increase local capacity for behavioral health and medical expertise in recognizing, assessing, and responding to childhood risk for maltreatment and trauma.  By training and supporting designated providers at this conference, they will be able to go back to their communities with improved practice.

Best practice standards will be addressed throughout the training. This will improve both access and quality of care for patients.  At the conference providers will have the opportunity to learn referral process and system-based protocols for working with other family-serving agencies, such as social services.  After the conference, process barriers will be further alleviated by continued ongoing support from Kempe child abuse experts for case consultation, ongoing education and policy coordination.

This training will emphasize behavioral health practices based on the previous year’s program evaluation (both case and provider level) data.  For children impacted by the trauma of abuse, it is well known that poor emotional and developmental outcomes are serious risks.  Behavioral health symptoms and delays can present in nuanced and varied ways, making identification and management difficult. This training will address how practitioners can utilize evidence-based assessment tools and treatments to address these barriers.  Trauma-informed approaches (treating patients with a sensitivity regarding their experiences) will be emphasized.

The Annual Provider Training is oriented towards current CARE Network:
