Motivational Interviewing in Health Care
This training will provide medical CARE Network designated providers with evidence-based guidelines for care and improve both access and quality of care for patients.

Learning Objectives
- Define motivational interviewing
- Recognize change talk
- Describe why recognizing change talk is essential to supporting behavior change in patients
Learner Outcomes
- Participants will self-report increased knowledge of how to perform evidence-based high-quality medical exams and behavioral health assessments using standard guidelines.
- Participants will self-report increased knowledge related to collaborating with non-medical professionals working on multidisciplinary teams to address child maltreatment.
Faculty
Mary Hodorowicz, PhD, LCSW-C is a social worker based in Baltimore, MD, USA. A clinician and teacher/trainer specializing in work with children and families, she is on faculty at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Research and professional interest areas include experiential teaching and training methods, Motivational Interviewing, child maltreatment prevention, substance use, mental and behavioral health treatment, adoption, and child welfare. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).
