CARE Network Medical ECHO Series - March 2023
This training will provide medical CARE Network designated providers with evidence-based guidelines for care and improve both access and quality of care for patients. Providers will have the opportunity to learn new referral processes and system-based protocols for working with other family-serving agencies, such as social services, law enforcement and the courts. A major goal of the ECHO sessions will be to promote interdisciplinary practice and collaboration among systems. Sessions will also include case presentations and discussion.
March's session with Denise Abdoo, PhD, MSN, CPNP, will focus on CDC changes to STI treatment guidelines.

Learning Objectives
- Review CDC changes to STI treatment guideline including new dosing recommendations for gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and trichomonas.
- Discuss challenges with longer dosing regimens.
- Identify CHCO guideline as a resource for post-exposure prophylaxis
Learner Outcome
- Participants will self-report increased knowledge of how to perform evidence-based high-quality medical exams and behavioral health assessments using standard guidelines.
- Participants will self-report increased knowledge related to collaborating with non-medical professionals working on multidisciplinary teams to address child maltreatment.
Dr. Denise Abdoo, PhD, MSN, CPNP (Child Abuse and Neglect and Emergency Medicine) is a leader and mentor in the field of child abuse. She has built the only pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program in the state. She has recruited, educated, and mentored nurses in addition to developing policy and protocols. Denise is responsible for much of the quality provision and growth of the program. She is a national expert in the risks of human trafficking and has helped to develop education, risk screening, and clinical care guidelines to improve its recognition and management. She is treasured as a reliable and supportive colleague.
