Colorado Pediatric Emergency and Trauma Conference 2024
Overview
The Colorado Pediatric Emergency and Trauma conference provides education for state-of-the-art care of the pediatric trauma patient in both the pre-hospital setting and through the continuum of inpatient care.
Target Audience
This program will be of interest to physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, EMS providers, aeromedical personnel and ancillary staff.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the nuance and scope of the coroner and medicolegal death investigations as it relates to the statutory requirements of reporting deaths.
- Examine how a whole blood rotation system can provide prehospital whole blood with minimum waste and work for any trauma center.
- Identify life-threatening bleeding situations and apply appropriate techniques to control bleeding effectively, potentially saving lives in emergency situations.
- Review principles and approaches to pediatric facial trauma and reconstruction.
- Identify the concept of ‘Missed Opportunities’ to detect child abuse and learn strategies to mitigate the missed opportunity.
- Understand early management of complex orthopedic traumatic injuries.
- Formulate an approach to the use of intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and vasopressors in pediatric sepsis resuscitation.

Learner Outcome
Learners will self-report expanded knowledge of care of traumatized patients and identify available resources for pediatric trauma care to be brought back to their areas of practice.
