ForwardThe Mosaic of Mental Health: A Workshop for Pediatric Rheumatologists - Session 2
Mental health problems, particularly anxiety and depression, are more common in children and adolescents with pediatric rheumatologic diseases than healthy peers. Identifying these problems early on is important because they are known to negatively impact disease outcomes. You will learn about these mental health issues and practices in pediatric rheumatology, develop knowledge and understanding through lecture and interactive activities. We HIGHLY recommend you attend both sessions of this series as the content will build from session one to session two.
Target Audience
Pediatric Rheumatologists, Fellows, Early Investigators, Nurses, Social Workers, other Support providers in Rheumatology clinics
Learning Objectives
- Identify signs and symptoms of anxiety and depression
- Describe coping and adjustment strategies in the context of pediatric rheumatology and understand why its beneficial
- Review basic principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Recognize when it is more appropriate to offer Art Therapy or Play Therapy
