Pediatric Airway Management Lab
OUTREACH EVENT
Overview and Target Audience
This activity is for physicians caring for pediatric patients in an emergency setting. Clinical updates and current topics for intervention and management of the pediatric airway will be addressed.
Learning Objectives
- Describe pediatric airway differences, respiratory emergencies in pediatrics, and pediatric resuscitation.
- Demonstrate manual and video intubation of infant and pediatric patients.
- Perform placement of airway adjuncts including mask fit/BVM, nasal, oral, and supraglottic airway products.
- Show skills in response to pediatric cases involving suctioning and foreign body removal.
- Perform tracheostomy tube suctioning, bagging, and what to do in case of accidental trach dislodgement.
- Display skills in intervening on a pediatric difficult airway including intubation with fiberoptic support.
- Show appropriate interventions and treatment for a pediatric patient post-resuscitation, including initial ventilator settings after ROSC or recovery.
