LIVE IN-PERSON OUTREACH EVENT

Overview and Target Audience

This activity is for physicians and advanced practice providers caring for pediatric patients in an emergency setting. Clinical updates and current topics for intervention and management of the pediatric airway will be addressed.

Learner Outcome

As a result of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Report new knowledge related to evidence-based care of ill and injured pediatric patients.
  • Explain pediatric management strategies through case study analysis and perform key pediatric in return demonstrations.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply evidence-based clinical reasoning to the evaluation and management of challenging pediatric emergency department presentations.
  • Demonstrate effective pediatric airway management skills including the selection and use of supraglottic airways, management of patients with tracheostomy, and airway rescue strategies.
  • Perform pediatric endotracheal intubation using video laryngoscopy incorporating appropriate equipment selection and management of common complications.
  • Manage the critically ill neonate utilizing a systematic approach to stabilization, resuscitation, and escalation of care.
  • Obtain peripheral vascular access using point-of-care ultrasound guidance demonstrating proper technique, vessel identification, and troubleshooting strategies.
