Pediatric Emergency and Trauma Outreach Symposium | Garden City, KS
OUTREACH LIVE AND VIRTUAL COURSE
This symposium is for interdisciplinary healthcare team members caring for pediatric patients in an emergency and pre-hospital setting. Current clinical issues and implications for children's health and clinician care delivery are presented and discussed.
This education will be held at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas with an in person and virtual attendance options.
Target Audience
This conference is for interdisciplinary healthcare team members including nursing, providers and pre-hospital providers.
Learner Outcomes
After attending this education, learners will report new knowledge and intent to change practice to provide current, evidence-based care to pediatric patients in an emergent setting.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss assessment tools, initial interventions, and escalation for pediatric patients.
- Describe basic prehospital and hospital assessment of the pediatric trauma patient.
- Outline evaluation and management of pediatric orthopedic trauma injuries including MVC, autoped, and farm accidents.
- List three signs concerning for possible non accidental trauma that warrant further evaluation.
- Discuss appropriate interventions to stabilize pediatric patients presenting with respiratory distress.
- List three strategies to support pediatric patients during medical procedures.
- Develop a plan when approaching management of the pediatric airway.
- Review presentation and treatment of pediatric sepsis.
- Outline differences between CPR and quality CPR, including common errors and mitigation strategies.
- Discuss medication use for acute seizure management and stabilization.
- Describe the initial management of pediatric burns and determine an appropriate disposition.
- Review presentation and treatment of a variety of pediatric emergency medicine cases.
