Pediatric Seizure Management in the Emergency Setting
This course for the interdisciplinary health care team (RN, MD, APP, EMS) provides a review of the clinical pathways for assessment and treatment of seizures in the emergent setting. The course also includes case study application and discussion on the definitions, assessment strategies and current treatment recommendations.

Learner Outcomes
As a result of this activity, learners will be able to report new knowledge related to seizures in order to provide current, evidence-based care to pediatric patients.
Learning Objectives
- Define seizure, status epilepticus, and non-convulsive status epilepticus
- Describe basic prehospital and hospital assessment of the patient with a seizure
- Differentiate modalities available to treat seizures in the prehospital and hospital setting
- Describe the side effects of seizure medications
