Physical Therapy Education Series - Pelvic Health for the Pediatric and Adolescent Patient - Recorded Sessions
This course is a recording of a live conference that took place on May 6, 2024 at Children's Hospital Colorado. Each lecture is presented in separate video clips that can be viewed in any order you choose.
Pelvic health conditions such as constipation, incontinence, encopresis, enuresis, and dysfunctional voiding affect children of all ages and impact their daily functioning in many ways. The etiology of these conditions is multifactorial and treatment can be complex. Treating pediatric pelvic health conditions requires a specific set of skills and education around treatment strategies that are unique to this patient population. Treatment often includes urotherapy as a conservative approach to treat urinary dysfunction as well as first line treatment for constipation (Austin 2014). When adding pelvic floor muscle retraining, treatment can be enhanced with improvements in outcomes (Chase, 2010). There are many clinicians who need to improve their ability to manage these patients. This course will take a deep dive into these disease states and share best practices for the advanced treatment in the pediatric and adolescent populations.
