Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections have been rising in popularity as a non-surgical treatment for sport injuries with promising results and outcomes. However, PRP injections have high variability when it comes to processing steps, equipment used, return to play protocols, and other important factors that make PRP injections a confusing topic. This course will provide a comprehensive breakdown of what a PRP injection is, the healing components of blood, processing steps, pre and post injection requirements, benefits and risks, education for ATs, providers, and patients about these injections, as well as discussing current and future research. This presentation will utilize graphs, pictures, and videos demonstrating the components listed previously to provide visuals for each topic. The goal is to provide Athletic Trainers (ATs) and other providers with increased knowledge of PRP injections so they can better educate their patients about these injections.
