Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice (RCDP) Master Trainer Course
Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice (RCDP) is a simulation modality that is often used with new staff and new graduates in healthcare for the acquisition and mastery of skills. RCDP allows feedback and debriefing in real-time, and an opportunity to “rewind” and re-practice the procedure or skill until mastery is achieved. This in-person course will allow learners to apply concepts of RCDP and receive feedback from experts in RCDP.
Target Audience
Current facilitators who actively use RCDP as well as RNs, physicians and others who are interested in incorporating RCDP into their curriculum at Children's Hospital Colorado will be invited to participate. Learners must provide proof of completion of on-line RCDP component in order to take this course.
Learner Outcome
Upon completion of the course, participants will report increased knowledge and confidence in designing, delivering, and evaluating training sessions using the Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice simulation modality. Participants will successfully complete a return demonstration of Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice simulation.
Learning Objectives
- Explain the key components of a Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice event.
- Describe teaching concepts utilized in RCDP that augment learning (i.e. Mastery Learning, Deliberate Practice, Shared Cognition, Scaffolding and Reflection In Action).
- Discuss the role of the instructor in RCDP training and incorporate this role into their clinical training.
- Demonstrate debriefing the debriefer.
