The Third Generation: Diagnosis, Treatment and Clinical Impact of Congenital Syphilis
This course for the interdisciplinary health care team (RN, MD, APP, EMS) provides a review of the clinical pathways and treatment for congenital syphilis. The course also includes case study presentations and discussion on epidemiology, diagnostic testing, transmission and treatment.

As a result of this activity, learners will be able to report new knowledge related to congenital syphilis in order to provide current, evidence-based care to pediatric patients.

- Discuss the epidemiology of congenital syphilis in the US and CO
- Identify key factors that may lead to congenital syphilis
- Review the various diagnostic test recommended for syphilis evaluation and interpretation
- Describe the Red Book algorithm on diagnosis and treatment of congenital syphilis
