Overview and Target Audience:
This educational activity is presented for all Anschutz Emergency Department staff. It provides an opportunity for in-depth exploration of caring for critically ill patients, such as those requiring intubation or resuscitation, utilizing video review of actual cases. The purpose of this event is to provide the knowledge and tools necessary to improve outcomes for these patients.
Global Objectives:
During each session, faculty and participants will:
- Identify and manage critically ill patients in the emergency department with use of evidence-based practice.
- Recognize and use effective communication skills during high-risk, low frequency events.
- Demonstrate care of a critically ill patient through best practice during high-risk, low frequency events.
Learner Outcome:
At the conclusion of this event, participants will self-report increased knowledge related to caring for critically ill patients and increased confidence in ability and proficiency to practice evidence-based medicine in caring for critically ill patients.
Continuing Education Credit:
Registration, attendance, and evaluation are required for successful completion to obtain professional continuing education credit.
