Modernizing Cleft Care: Dispelling Myth From Data and Post-Operative Care
Overview
This course explores modern, evidence-based strategies for managing pain and optimizing recovery in patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and related craniofacial anomalies. Participants will learn to apply current pain management techniques collaboratively and integrate ERAS pre- and post-operative protocols, including nutritional support, to enhance patient outcomes.
Target Audience
The target audience for this course are both Internal faculty members and community physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and members of the Orthodontic and Dental Communities.
Learning Objectives
- Identify and apply at least two modern pain management strategies for patients with cleft lip/palate and related craniofacial anomalies, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team and patient families.
- Describe the components of ERAS pre-operative protocols and demonstrate how to integrate these protocols into post-operative care plans, including nutritional support, to improve outcomes for patients with cleft lip/palate.
