Learning Objectives

  1. Examine different etiological pathways to the emergence of problematic sexual behavior among children.
  2. Evaluate the use of the Assessment of Sexual Behavior-Child Version (ASB-C) as a measurement tool.

 

Learner Outcome

  • Medical and behavioral health providers within the CARE Network will identify best practices and evidence-based approaches in the assessment of children for child maltreatment.
  • Participants will report increased knowledge of how to perform evidence-based high-quality medical exams and behavioral health assessments using standard guidelines. 
  • Participants will report increased knowledge related to collaborating with non-medical professionals working on multidisciplinary teams to address child maltreatment.

Brian Allen, PsyD

Dr. Brian Allen is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Penn State College of Medicine and a clinical psychologist. He conducts research on the developmental impact of child maltreatment, mediators and moderators of treatment response among maltreated children, and children with problematic sexual behavior. He is the primary author of the Assessment of Sexual Behavior-Child Version, a recently released measure to assess normative and problematic sexual behavior among children.
