Course Overview
The essence of transition is the preparation of a child to become independent in their own healthcare in readiness for a transfer into an adult healthcare environment. It is a broad generalization but whilst tools exist for transition practice is extremely variable across all healthcare environment and between different specialties. There is growing recognition that improvements in pediatric care mean that many children with complex conditions can expect to live a long and productive adult life. It is important that they receive the healthcare they need to ensure that any underlying condition or treatment has minimal impact on this. This meeting aims to consider the complexities of care for these patients in the urological, gynecological and colorectal specialties. International experts will be providing insight into their practice for these patients and how they overcome some of the practical and medical challenges in this exciting and growing area of clinical practice.
