Disability as Diversity for Pediatric Professionals

Learning Objectives:

  1. Compare and contrast person-first and identity-first disability language and analyze their implications for identity development.
  2. Identify three core elements of disability culture and evaluate their relevance in clinical care.
  3. Describe at least two common barriers to the development of a positive disability identity in children and adolescents.
  4. Assess the impact of ableism and implicit bias on healthcare delivery to pediatric patients with disabilities.
