Respiratory Therapists are health care professionals whose responsibilities include the diagnostic evaluation, ventilation management, education, rehabilitation and care of patients' acute and chronic disease processes of the cardiopulmonary system. The scope of practice includes; the application of technology, implementation of protocols, and utilization of therapies across all care sites. This includes, but is not limited to; the hospital, clinic, networks of care, and rehabilitation (inpatient and outpatient).

This presentation will discuss how HFNC with NIV enables a complementary approach for weaning efficiency. In light of the current pandemic, this presentation will also discuss the use of HFNC and NIV therapy in COVID-19 patients. 
Following the lecture will be an interactive panel discussion with three experts in HFNC and NIV therapies.

•   Saving Face:  Respiratory-device related pressure injury prevention.
This webinar will provide an overview of skin pressure injury including causes, stages of injury, and prevention interventions and with attention to both traditional pressure injury as well as medical device-related injury. With a focus on respiratory devices, this webinar will discuss the cost of pressure injuries to the hospital and to the patient, respiratory device-related bundle elements for all respiratory devices, review the most commonly occurring respiratory device injuries and the locations on the face, and review the NIPPV specific interventions we can use to protect patients. Discussion on pressure ulcers related to proning will also be addressed.
