The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine recognizes that advancing adolescent health depends upon effective partnerships among adolescents, families, health professionals, public and private sectors, communities, schools, and other social institutions. This partnership with Children's Colorado provides an opportunity to address the barriers identified.
On behalf of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine we wish to thank Roberta K. Beach for her work as a pediatrician and as a specialist in adolescent medicine and teen sex education, which brought her many local and national awards and recognition. She co-authored chapters in several medical publications. With gratitude.
Target Audience
This cutting-edge information will enhance knowledge, skills and performance of providers involved in physical, social and behavioral health aspects of care in adolescents and young adults.
The increased knowledge and skills will help attendees better advocate for youth in all domains of health and well-being.
Learning Objectives
Recognize emerging trends and health risks affecting adolescents and apply evidence-based strategies to address substance use, mental health concerns, reproductive health needs, vaccine hesitancy, obesity treatment, and the impact of technology on youth.
Identify the clinical, psychological, and social consequences of high-potency marijuana use in adolescents and implement appropriate screening, counseling, and intervention approaches across care settings.
Integrate suicide prevention best practices into routine clinical care, including risk identification, safety planning, referral pathways, and multidisciplinary collaboration to support vulnerable youth.
Apply evidence-based approaches to screening, counseling, treatment, and referral for common adolescent health challenges.
Recognize the impact of public policy, technology, and social determinants on youth health outcomes.

This activity will take place in the Medical Conference and Education Center located on the 2nd Floor at Children's Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Virtual learners will be sent a Zoom link prior 1-3 days prior to.
Parking
Children's team members must use their designated parking. Guests may park in the Lot 10 located to the east of the hospital. Enter Lot on Victor Street.
Health Screening
Health screenings are required for guests coming into the hospital. Please plan extra time for this process. If you are having flu or COVID symptoms, please stay home and reach out to us.
